Would have been nice for it to finish on a nice round 100.
They could have done that (full 100 episodes) if they had just extended the final season order. Especially since seasons 3 and 4 where the first time Trek did not have a 26 episode season since TNG’s season 2, when the writer’s strike of 1989 required a shortened such season (and also gave us the single worst season finale of all time, “Shades of Grey”… *shudder*)
Oh, and while I’m at it, let me rub some salt in the wound of Enterprise’s cancellation. It’s been revealed in the years since that if it had happened, season 5 would have seen Jeffrey Combs’ Shran join the cast/crew full time and finally begun the prelude to the Romulan War. We also know Manny Coto wanted to revisit the episode “the Cloud Minders” from TOS, featuring the city of Stratos (he tried in season 4 but couldn’t figure it out in time) and they also have said they would more than likely have done more mirror episodes, likely returning to such once a season from then on. So yeah, season 5 would have actually been pretty cool.
