Getting ready to head out to the midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises” in a little bit.  Decided it would be appropriate to post this track from the soundtrack/score, which is appropriately titled “The End”.

As excited as I am to finally be seeing this film, I must admit that it dawned on my today for the first time that this truly is the end.  The end of a journey that tons of us have taken with these films. 

I can still remember reading the rumors and news coming out back in 2003 and 2004 about the attempted reboot of the Batman film franchise.  The concern and question of ‘can it be done?’ after the 1997 fiasco “Batman & Robin” that had ended the modern films.  When they cast Christian Bale, I had only seen one or two of his films but instantly thought it brilliant.  Made a point to see the majority of his films before “Begins” and have continued doing so since.

The “WTF?” reaction so many of us had to the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker in “The Dark Knight” and then to that first odd photo released of him in make-up via comic-con.  The reports from the set of how amazing and scary his portrayal was, the sudden surge of Oscar buzz only 3 days into filming.  Heath’s sudden and shocking passing.  The monster-sized hype around the film.  The monster box office, and Heath’s posthumous well deserved Academy Award win for Best Supporting Actor.

Now we’re here again, on the brink of the latest and final film in perhaps one of the best trilogies in film.  Certainly, the best trilogy of superhero films ever done - or likely ever to be done.  It’s exciting and scary.
